Accessibility Needs Initiative
- To support individuals with accessibility needs in preparing for, obtaining, and maintaining employment or self-employment.
Apprenticeship Program
- Financial support is available to apprentices for up to 4 weeks per schooling level.
Community Youth Forum
- Provides financial and developmental support to youth groups from Saugeen First Nation and Chippewas of Nawash First Nation to promote discussion and planning around employment and career development.
Job Start-Up
- Providing support within 2 weeks of starting a new job. Proof of employment is required and support is limited to once every 12 months.
Incarcerated Transition Program
- To support individuals in developing and implementing a positive post-release plan to facilitate successful reintegration.
Purchase of Training
- Funding for skills development programs that assist eligible individuals in obtaining the qualifications necessary for employment, career advancement, or re-entry into the workforce.
Self-Employment Assistance Program
- To assist unemployed individuals in becoming self-employed by supporting them in starting a viable business. A business plan is required and this program is only available one time per person.
Small Business Support Program
- To assist current and prospective entrepreneurs in developing their business skills through participation in relevant workshops, conferences, and seminars.
Stay in School Initiative
- To support at-risk elementary and secondary students by enabling creation of innovative programs that promote high school completion.
Targeted Wage Subsidy
- To offer training and work experience to unemployed or underemployed individuals who face barriers to securing full-time employment.
Job Creation Partnership
- To offer unemployed workers opportunities to develop and improve skills that support their successful entry or re-entry into the labour market.
Additional Support Options
- Additional support may be available for items such as personal protective equipment (PPE), relocation, driver’s licenses, Back on Track programs, and other employment or training-related needs.

Employment Ontario clients do not need to have Indigenous ancestry.
TARGETED WAGE SUBSIDY PROPOSALS
The Huronia Area Aboriginal Management Board (HAAMB) is now accepting Targeted Wage Subsidy (TWS) proposals for the 2026-2027 fiscal year. Members of the Chippewas of Nawash First Nation, Saugeen First Nation and other organizations are invited to submit proposals to the HAAMB Office.
Proposals must include the following information/documents:
- Schedule A & B Form (including the budget) – please request the form from the HAAMB Office.
- Detailed Training Plan or anticipated outcomes.
- Duration: Maximum 52 weeks.
- Wage Rate: Maximum of $20.00/hour (75% HAAMB, 25% employer share).
- Hours: 70 hours bi-weekly.
- Must meet HAAMB eligibility criteria.
- Must be willing to participate in a Common Assessment process and meet with HAAMB staff.
- All TWS positions are subject to Saugeen and Nawash hiring procedures, practices, and job posting guidelines.
HAAMB will also accept proposals from private employers within Nawash and Saugeen who are willing to hire individuals to develop employment and training skills aligned with employment trends and community needs.
Private employer proposals must include:
- Schedule A & B and Training Plan
- Letters Patent or proof of business ownership
- Company Liability Insurance
Proposal submissions will be accepted starting January 5, 2026.
